What does Shan Hai Jing mean?

Shan Hai Jing is a peculiar ancient book in China, generally written by Chu or Bashu people from the middle and late Warring States to the early Han Dynasty. It is also a fantastic book.

I. Catalogue of Works

There are thirteen chapters of Shan Hai Jing in Ban Gu's Records of Han Shu Literature and Art, which ranks first in the category of "Form and Method" in "Introduction to Mathematical Methods", but this table is only for the purpose and its content is still early. Shan Hai Jing handed down from ancient times is short, with less than 32,000 words, including Shan Jing and Hai Jing.

Second, the influence of the work.

Shan Hai Jing is a magical book with various contents. It is rich in precious materials of geography, mythology, folklore, history of science, religion, ethnology, medicine and other disciplines. Its academic value involved many disciplines, and recorded a large number of natural geographical elements and human geographical contents in China at that time in an orderly way.

Third, the analysis of works.

The earliest reference to Shan Hai Jing is Sima Qian's Historical Records, and its volume 123 Biography of Dawan has the following words: "Taishi Gong Yue: Yu Benji said that" the river flows out of Kunlun. Kunlun Mountain is more than 2,500 miles high, and the sun and the moon avoid each other as light. There are Liquan and Yaochi on it. Today, as a summer in Zhang Qian, I am poor in Heyuan, and I have a bad feeling about the so-called Kunlun Mountain in the chronicle. Therefore, there are mountains and rivers in Kyushu, and the ministers are close. I dare not say anything about Yu Benji and the monsters in Shan Hai Jing. "
