Stemmacanthauniflora (L.) Dittrich (scientific name: Stemmacanthauniflora (L.) Dittrich), aliases: wild orchid, ghost oil hemp, and wolf's head flower. It is a perennial herbaceous plant. Rhizome thick. The roots extend straight and the stems are upright, unbranched, gray-white, covered with cotton hairs. The basal leaves and lower stems and leaves are all oval-shaped and have long petioles. The flower head is solitary on the top of the stem, and the peduncle is thick, naked or with a few diamond-shaped leaflets. The involucre is hemispherical, with membranous appendages at the top of all bracts, light brown. All florets are bisexual, tubular, with purple-red corolla, 3.1 cm long, and achenes with 3-4 ribs, wedge-shaped, 4 mm long and 2.5 mm wide. The crest is brown, with bristly hairs. The flowering and fruiting period is from April to September.

Widely distributed in northeastern, northwest, central and other regions of China. Born on hilly slopes, under pine forests or birch forests, at an altitude of 390-2700 meters. The roots and rhizomes are used as medicine and have the effects of clearing away heat, detoxifying, draining pus, reducing swelling and relieving breast pain.

Nature, flavor and meridian distribution are bitter and cold in nature. Returns to the stomach meridian.
