Wulongtan Park is located outside the west gate of the old city of Jinan and north of Luoyuan Bridge. It is named after Wulongtan. Wulongtan, one of the "seventy-two famous springs" in Jinan recorded in "North" in Jin Dynasty, was called "Grey Bay Spring" at that time. According to historical records, this pool was called "Chi Jing" in the Six Dynasties and "Wangsi Lake" in the Song Dynasty, which was a part of the ancient Daming Lake. According to the Notes on Water Classics, there was this piece of water before the Northern Wei Dynasty, called Chi Jing, which is a corner of Daming Lake. According to legend, the pool water in Wulongtan was unpredictable in the past. Whenever there is a drought, we must pray for rain. So, in the Yuan Dynasty, a good-hearted man built a new Wulong Temple near the pool, which was renamed Wulongtan.
