Baotou and Taiyuan

Generally speaking, the urban area of Baotou is relatively large. Baotou is the national regional center, the economic center, science and technology center and industrial center of Inner Mongolia. It is the leading core of Hubaodong urban agglomeration and one of the first megacities in China. Its economic aggregate, popularity and city scale are much stronger than Taiyuan. The urban area of Baotou is mainly Donghe District, Qingshan District, Kunming District, Jiuyuan District and High-tech Zone, and the suburban area is also larger than Taiyuan. Mainly in Damaoqi, Baiyun District, Shiguai District, Tuyouqi, Guyang County, Baotou has developed traffic. Not only the bus system covers the whole city, but also the subway and BRT bus rapid transit are under construction. The approval of Beijing-Baotou high-speed railway, Baohai high-speed railway and Baolan high-speed railway has further enhanced Baotou's position as a regional center. It would be better if Baotou was designated as a city under separate state planning, but it would be a pity to stay in Inner Mongolia.
