China cultural relics protection system is divided into two major systems: movable cultural relics protection and immovable cultural relics protection. The core institutions responsible for the protection of cultural relics are cultural relics bureaus at all levels. The Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on the Protection of Cultural Relics (revised and passed on October 28th, 2002) defines cultural relics as "ancient cultural sites, ancient tombs, ancient buildings, cave temples, stone carvings and murals with historical, artistic and scientific values; Important historical sites, objects and representative buildings related to major historical events, revolutionary movements or famous figures in modern times, which have important commemorative, educational or historical value; Precious works of art and arts and crafts in different periods in history; Important documents and materials in various periods in history, as well as manuscripts and books and materials of historical, artistic and scientific value; A representative object that reflects the social system, social production and social life of various times and nationalities in history; Ancient vertebrate fossils and ancient human fossils with scientific value. "
Movable cultural relics are mainly protected by museums. Movable cultural relics are mostly collected in museums or memorial halls and scientific research institutes established by the state with good protection facilities, so they are called cultural relics collections. The cultural relics in the collection are divided into general cultural relics and precious cultural relics. Precious cultural relics are divided into first, second and third grade cultural relics, and cultural relics collection files must be established. Cultural relics bureaus at all levels are responsible for protecting movable cultural relics.
The main protection subjects of immovable cultural relics are mainly cultural relics protection units at all levels, including world heritage, key scenic spots, historical and cultural cities, historical and cultural towns (villages) and so on.
Cultural relics protection units. It is divided into national, provincial and county levels, as well as ancient sites, ancient tombs, ancient buildings, cave temples and stone carvings, important historical sites and representative buildings in modern times, and other six categories, which are managed by cultural relics institutions at all levels. The list of national key cultural relics protection units was put forward by National Cultural Heritage Administration and submitted to the State Council for approval. At present, five batches of *** 127 1 national key cultural relics protection units have been approved and published. In Taiwan Province Province, cultural relics protection units are called historic sites.
Famous historical and cultural city. It is divided into national and provincial levels and managed by construction departments and cultural relics institutions at all levels. The list of national historical and cultural cities was jointly proposed by the Ministry of Construction and National Cultural Heritage Administration and submitted to the State Council for approval. At present, three batches of 102 national historical and cultural cities have been approved and supplemented.
Famous historical and cultural towns (villages). It is divided into two levels: national level and provincial level. The list of famous historical and cultural towns in China and famous historical and cultural villages in China was selected and published by the Ministry of Construction and National Cultural Heritage Administration. At present, a number of 10 famous historical and cultural towns in China and 12 famous historical and cultural villages in China have been announced.
Attractions. It is divided into two levels: national level and provincial level. The list of national key scenic spots is proposed by the Ministry of Construction and submitted to the State Council for approval. At present, five batches of *** 177 national key scenic spots have been announced.
World heritage. Under normal circumstances, the world heritage projects declared by China are all national key scenic spots, national historical and cultural cities, China historical and cultural towns (villages) and one of the national key cultural relics protection units. The Ministry of Construction or National Cultural Heritage Administration will submit the application list, and the Ministry of Education will co-ordinate the application for joining the World Heritage List to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in the name of China countries. At present, 30 projects in China have been listed in the World Heritage List.
