Basic methods of proofreading Basic rules of book proofreading

There are four basic methods of proofreading: proofreading; School law; Other school rules; School management methods. These four methods are the basic methods of proofreading ancient books, which are completely suitable for modern book proofreading, so they are also the basic methods of modern proofreading.

3. 1 proofreading method. Proofreading method is characterized by "changing words according to books, without omission." There are two objects of proofreading-manuscript and proofreading. We use the method of proofreading the manuscript to find out the similarities and differences. Modern proofreading techniques, such as folding proofreading, point proofreading, reading proofreading and proofreading, all belong to proofreading methods. Found the difference between the certificate and the original, and corrected the certificate according to the original in principle.

3.2 Law of our school. The characteristic of proofreading method is: "Correct the original version." The "book" of modern proofreading is the manuscript. There is only one object in our school-proofreading and correcting mistakes after mistakes and omissions. We use the method of reading through the text to find problems, then judge right and wrong and find out the mistakes in the manuscript. Find the mistakes in the manuscript, mark them on the proof with a pencil, put forward suggestions for correcting the mistakes, and fill in the proofreading inquiry form to question the editor. Right and wrong are different from word processing, only correcting mistakes, filling gaps, deleting duplicates, and not retouching pictures.

3.3 Other school methods. The characteristics of other schools' laws are: "School books with other books." "Other books" refers to other books. "Correct according to evidence" is an important principle of proofreading and correcting mistakes. When problems are found in the reading inspection and it is difficult to judge right or wrong, we have to consult relevant authoritative reference books or authoritative works to find a reliable basis for judging right or wrong and correcting mistakes.

3.4 School methods. Proofreading method is characterized by reasoning and judgment. When a doubt is found and there is no reliable basis, it must be judged by reasoning, including analyzing the meaning of words and logical reasoning.

The above four basic proofreading methods should be comprehensively used in practice, so as to obtain complementary effects and eliminate errors to the maximum extent.
