Northwest Normal University, located in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, is a key university jointly established by the Gansu Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education. It has been selected into 14 universities in the western region supported by the state.
Beijing Normal University supports Northwest Normal University. The school's predecessor was National Beiping Normal University, and its predecessor was Shi Jing University Normal College, which was established in 1902. 19 12 was changed to "National Beijing Normal University" and 1923 was changed to "National Beiping Normal University".
