The whole story of Du Zexun's "Four Inventory Target Notes"

During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, more than 10,000 articles were compiled. In fact, about one-third of the books are included in Sikuquanshu, and two-thirds of the books are only kept in the catalogue. When Du Zexun found these four inventory items in Liulichang, he decided to take these four inventory target notes as his own responsibility and began a long information collection work.

1992 From May 25th to May 30th, 3 1, the third national planning meeting on the arrangement and publication of ancient books was held in Beijing Xiangshan Hotel. After the meeting, Du Zexun stepped up the "Notes on Four Inventory Objects" and drafted the "Notes on Four Inventory Objects", which was sent to some experts in the field of ancient book collation for comments. At that time, Mr. Zhao Shouyan and Mr. Fu Xuancong from Zhonghua Book Company wrote back immediately, giving full affirmation and enthusiastic encouragement. Mr. Huang Yongnian, Mr. Zhang and Mr. Zhou Xunchu also gave affirmation and support on different occasions. 1On April 20th, 993, Du Zexun published Four Bibliographies with Notes on the Book of Changes in the Bulletin of Ancient Books, and made a prospect for the preservation and edition of all the books in the catalogue from the Notes on the Book of Changes.

1in may, 994, the compilation Committee of sikuquanshu catalogue series was formally established, with Mr. Ji Xianlin, president of oriental culture research society, as the editor-in-chief and Du Zexun as the executive editor. He was invited to Peking University as the deputy director of the cataloging room and soon became the director of the editorial office. By the end of June, the book 1997 and 1200 had been published, and * * * included 4,508 books in the catalogue, most of which were rare books. In June 165438+ 10, Du Zexun returned to Shandong University and began to clean up the annotated manuscripts of four inventory objects according to the suggestion of Mr. Huang Yongnian, a series of academic consultants in the Catalogue. Mr Ji Xianlin once praised Du Zexun for his "great contribution" to the compilation of catalogue series.

In the past five years, Du Zexun has undertaken heavy teaching work, offering "philology" courses (compulsory courses for graduate students majoring in literature, history and philosophy) for Shanda College of Literature, School of History and Culture, Institute of Literature and Philosophy, and offering courses for graduate students majoring in classical philology, such as catalog edition collation, Qing Dynasty catalog edition research, and Si Ku research. At the same time, he participated in a number of collective projects and personally wrote and published the Outline of Philology according to the teaching needs. Du Zexun believes that to engage in academic research, one must lay a good foundation, and the other must be good at capturing information. "Now many people like to find information from the Internet, thinking that information must be modern and even foreign. I think it's too narrow. Information is everywhere. The key is to capture it yourself and be good at capturing it. " This is Du Zexun's experience. Third, we should seize the opportunity. Choose the right topic, but also have the conditions to do it well. No condition, no matter how good the topic is. Fourth, be patient. Such a big project, one by one accumulation, one by one search, careful expression, much slower than a snail. His teachers and friends are very worried about him, and even kindly advised him to "publish an article first" in order to evaluate his professional title. He has never wavered, on the contrary, he is infatuated. In February, 2002, Professor Zhou wrote in the article "Two Hundred Years of Four Books": "Associate professor of Shandong University has made great achievements in the study of the four books, and his works are quite distinctive, such as four books' submissions, four books' submissions and records, and four bibliography notes. In 2007, the 2.7 million-word Description of Four Inventory Objectives finally met with readers.
