Blade ‖ The best state of life is to be awake and self-aware.

Text/Gu Liang

It is said that The Moon and Sixpence, The Blade and the Shackle of Human Nature are Mao Mu's life trilogy, and the Shackle of Human Nature was put aside at the beginning of reading, and it is estimated that more than 400,000 words have been chewed for a long time. I just watched the beginning of Blade, which really attracted me.

This book is like a sharp knife, through the dense fog of time and space, reaching the deepest part of human nature, cutting open the cruel truth that people have been busy all their lives but have achieved nothing.

This is a classic. Mao Mu, with his humorous and sharp style, expresses human nature directly and tells the story in a fascinating way. The world is cold, the world is cold, all of which are condensed in the words and deeds of the characters in the book, and everyone can see their own shadow in them. Whenever we read Mao Mu's works, we will feel something, that is, the value of Mao Mu and the value of faith.

Larry in the article dares to pursue the life he likes. To this end, you can give up everything outside your body, a good job, upper-class resources and a beautiful fiancee. Just like in The Moon and Sixpence, Strickland abandoned his superior life, his wife and children and realized his dream as a painter.

In fact, these works are all discussing a problem, how people should live and the meaning of life, which will never be out of date.

Everyone has an answer to the meaning of life, just like the changeable life in Blade, Eliot who likes the upper class, Isabel who lives a stable and prosperous life, and Gray who aims at work. Everyone is struggling for the so-called meaning of life, and you can see your own shadow in them.

The meaning of most people is to make money, work and live a well-behaved life. Decent jobs for foreigners and high society with children have been passed down from generation to generation. This is a normal life.

Larry, the protagonist, is obviously an exception. I think most people will marry a rich daughter. Live a rich life and successfully appear at high-end banquets.

Larry didn't spend his life as arranged by his friends and family. On the contrary, he chose a completely different life and sought the meaning of life through practice. He did find himself, filled his spiritual world and lived the life he wanted.

In our opinion, he could have married Bai and reached the peak of his life, but he chose to leave everything behind and wander around, even becoming a miner and furnace burner. To outsiders, he is crazy, but in his view, only by working at the lowest level in the world can we realize the true meaning of life and get real happiness.

In fact, at first I felt sorry for his love with Isabel, and later I was glad that their three views were different. They pursue different lives. One is to build a material foundation, and the other is to live in the spiritual world and feel that spiritual abundance is greater than material needs.

Fortunately, they didn't get married, otherwise they would have left their wives and children to find the meaning of living, just like the protagonist in The Moon and Sixpence. It feels like a prequel here.

Their showdown talk before breaking up showed us many couples in love, what should be the basis of marriage, * * have the same values, * * have the same hobbies and * * have the pursuit of life. Isabel in the article is the girl I like. She knows what kind of life she is pursuing. What she needs is bread, not love. Fortunately, she chose bread and lived happily all her life. If she chooses love, I think she may drown.

I hope every girl can live a sober and self-aware life, choose love or bread, and don't choose love to expect bread. Understand the pros and cons and weigh the present. Larry and Isabel's view of love made me understand that two people with different views will not come together after all.

Eliot, another character in the article who is completely opposite to Larry, wants Larry to marry his niece and arrange for Larry to enter the upper class. He is as proud as most of us. He helps people arrange all their friends' parties. When Eliot was ill, old and useless, he was forgotten. The most pitiful thing is that he was still thinking about the banquet before he died, which made people feel pity and unworthy. Even the last struggle was left to his niece.

There are two people with the same name but different endings. One is a prostitute Susan, who finally understands that the loyalty between husband and wife is the key to a happy marriage. One is Sophie who almost married Larry. Sophie is bent on dying. Their lives are completely different. The biggest difference is that they can't give up. When someone throws an olive branch at you, you should be brave enough to seize it and change it. Only when they wake up can they save themselves.

Oscar Pistorius is a masterpiece, and Mao Mu's descriptions of all the characters in the book are very vivid, showing us full three-dimensional characters. Blade: The word comes from the Upanishads of Kato, the sacred book of Hinduism: the road to enlightenment is difficult, like crossing a sharp razor. If the road to salvation must pass through the mountain of knives, then find the answer.

Finally, Larry was the only one who crossed the blade. He put aside material things and got spiritual liberation, thinking that the greatest satisfaction in life lies in spiritual life.

Knowing Larry in the article, I know the true meaning of reading-talking with similar souls, transcending time and space, having intimate friends and sincerely enriching the spiritual world.

It is true that in this world, most of us live highly similar lives, the same. To borrow a sentence from Strickland in The Moon and Sixpence, most people in this world will not and dare not follow their hearts. They just live a mediocre life and become a stable and small member of this society, unknown and mediocre.

In fact, there are infinite possible combinations in life. Larry completely ignored the shackles of the secular world and defended his freedom. This peace and tranquility is worthy of our pursuit, whether it is the pursuit of the moon or sixpence, or seeing our own goals.

It is said that time is a sharp knife, and eventually everyone will be carved into what they subconsciously think is right. I don't know. Many times, we usually live a life we hate.

Oscar Pistorius tells the story of Mao Mu, but it shows us the story of most people in life. No one can be responsible for our life except ourselves.

When you choose your own way of life and ignore the eyes of others, you will find that life is so shining. In the rest of my life, I hope that you and I can both cross the sharp edge of life, cut through thorns and bravely March towards our own life path.
