Syndrome Differentiation of Lung Diseases —— Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnostics of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine

(1) lung qi deficiency: qi deficiency due to illness, or chronic cough impairing qi, leading to weak lung qi deficiency and decreased lung function. The symptoms are cough weakness, excessive phlegm, pale face, low voice, fatigue, excessive spontaneous sweating, short breath, tiredness and laziness in speaking, cold and cold, pale tongue with white fur and weak pulse. Can be seen in chronic lung diseases, such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema, tuberculosis and other diseases.

(2) Lung yin deficiency: mostly due to exogenous dryness and heat, excessive body fluid, lung failure, or lung injury due to chronic cough, lung yin deficiency and endogenous deficiency heat. Syndrome can be seen as cough without phlegm; Or sputum is small and thick, sometimes coughing up blood, hot flashes, night sweats, and fever in hands and feet. Or hoarseness, dry mouth and throat, dry red tongue, little moss and rapid pulse. The syndrome is more common in some chronic consumptive diseases, such as tuberculosis, laryngeal tuberculosis and chronic bronchitis.

(3) Wind-cold binding the lung: wind-cold invading the lung, and lung qi is not declared. It can be manifested as aversion to cold, fever, head and body pain, anhidrosis, nasal congestion and runny nose, cough, excessive phlegm, thin and white fur and tight pulse. This syndrome is more common in colds (colds and flu), acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, emphysema and other diseases.

(4) Wind-heat invading the lungs: it is mostly caused by exogenous wind-heat, or cold pathogen transforming into heat, phlegm-heat choking the lungs, and decreased defecation lung function. Most of the symptoms are fever, cough, asthma, thick and yellow sputum, coughing up purulent blood, foul smell, chest pain, nosebleeds, sore throat, irritability and thirst, and even wind-heat blocking the lungs, accompanied by shortness of breath, flapping nose, cyanosis of lips, constipation, short and red urine, red tongue, yellow fur and rapid pulse. This syndrome can be seen in acute and chronic tracheitis, lobar pneumonia, bronchiectasis complicated with infection, lung abscess, bronchial asthma and other diseases.

(5) Lung-kidney yin deficiency: Lung disease lasts for a long time, and lung yin deficiency can lead to kidney yin deficiency. Symptoms include cough, scanty phlegm, shortness of breath, backache and leg weakness, hot flashes, night sweats, nocturnal emission, emaciation, thirst, red tongue with little coating and rapid pulse. This syndrome can be seen in the late stage of pulmonary tuberculosis patients.
