Zhang Liang (approximately 250 BC - 186 BC), courtesy name Zifang, was born in Yingchuan City, Henan Province (now Baofeng, Henan Province). He was an outstanding counselor and minister in the late Qin and early Han Dynasties, and was the same as Han Xin and Xiao He. They are also known as the "Three Heroes of the Early Han Dynasty".
Zhang Liang’s grandfather, father and other ancestors served as prime ministers of five generations of Korean kings in Yangdi, the capital of Korea (now Yuzhou, Henan).
He once advised Liu Bang to speak softly at the Hongmen Banquet and preserve his strength, and also communicated with Xiang Yu's uncle Xiang Bo, so that Liu Bang could escape. Later, with his outstanding resourcefulness, he assisted Liu Bang, the emperor of Han Dynasty, to finally win the world in the Chu-Han War. He also helped Empress Lu to support Liu Ying to ascend to the position of prince and was named Liuhou.
He was proficient in the ways of Huang and Lao, and did not miss power and position. It is said that he traveled with Chisongzi in his later years. After Zhang Liang's death, he was given the posthumous title of Marquis Wencheng. "Historical Records: The Liuhou Family" specifically records Zhang Liang's life. Liu Bang, the emperor of the Han Dynasty, commented on him in the Nangong Palace of Luoyang: "My husband is planning and managing the curtains, and he can win the battle thousands of miles away. I am not as good as the ovary."
