The Yellow River originates from the Bayan Kara Mountains in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is shaped like a "few" and flows from west to east through nine provinces (autonomous regions) including Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan and Shandong, and finally flows into the Bohai Sea.
Because the middle section of the Yellow River flows through the Loess Plateau in China and carries a lot of sediment, it is also called the river with the largest sediment concentration in the world. Every year,1600 million tons of sediment is produced, of which1200 million tons flows into the sea, and the remaining 400 million tons remain in the lower reaches of the Yellow River for many years, forming an alluvial plain, which is very conducive to planting and producing a lot of food.
Extended data
Water resources of the Yellow River
1979 national water resources survey results: the theoretical water resources reserve of the Yellow River Basin is 40.548 million kilowatts, with an average annual power generation of 355.2 billion kwh, accounting for 6% of the theoretical water resources reserve of 592,265,438+800 million kwh. 73.3% of the hydraulic resources are distributed in the main stream of the Yellow River. The theoretical reserve of tributary hydraulic resources is * * */kloc-0.0782 million kilowatts, with an average annual power generation of 94.45 billion kwh.
There are * * * 100 hydropower stations with an installed capacity of more than100 kw in the whole basin, with a total installed capacity of 27.277 million kw and an average annual power generation of10/3.72 million kwh, accounting for 6. 1% of the country's exploitable hydropower resources.
