Zhou Song·Shimai's translation

Zhou Song·Shimai [Pre-Qin] Anonymous

Shimai had his country, and Haotian had his son. In fact, there is Zhou in the right sequence. Thin words are shocking, and everyone is shocked. Huairou and hundreds of gods, reaching the river and Qiaoyue, allow the king to be the queen.

Ming Zhao had Zhou Dynasty, and Shixun was in place. Carrying swords for fighting, carrying bows and arrows. I ask for Yide, and I will continue to live in the summer, and I will allow the king to protect it. Translation and Notes

Translation King Wu went to inspect the kingdoms, and Huang Tian regarded him as his son. May my kingdom prosper and prosper, and let me send troops to attack King Zhou, causing panic in all parts of the world. Sacrifice is needed to appease the gods, and hundreds of gods from mountains and rivers come to enjoy it. The ruler of all nations is King Wu! The great power of Zhou Dynasty is extremely glorious, and rewards are given in order. Put away your weapons and armor, and put your strong bows and arrows into your bags. Pay attention to beautiful morals and apply them all over China. The king of Zhou will always keep the country prosperous!

Note: When: a particle, one is said to be "on time". Still talking about "the present" and "this world". Mai: Lin Yiguang's "The Book of Songs" reads "ten thousand", numerous. State: country. This refers to the feudal vassal states after King Wu conquered Shang. Haotian: Cangtian, Huangtian. Son: To treat him as a son is to make him a king. That is to say, he regards the princes and states as his own sons. Actual: auxiliary word. One saying refers to "reality, indeed". Appreciation

There are fifteen lines in the whole poem, and neither Mao Shi nor Zhu Xi's "Collected Poems" are divided into chapters. He Kai's "Old Meanings of the Book of Songs" in the Ming Dynasty is divided into two chapters, starting with "Ming Zhao You Zhou" as the second chapter, and Yao Jiheng's "General Theory of the Book of Songs" in the Qing Dynasty is based on it. However, if we examine the poetic meaning carefully, we can see that the first half praises King Wu's martial arts, and the second half praises King Wu's martial arts. The meaning is coherent. If it is divided into chapters, "not only the length of the chapters will be uneven, but the style of writing will also feel tight and slow" (Fang Yurun's "The Original Book of Songs"), so it is better to stick to the old theory and not divide it into chapters.

This poem uses the technique of "Fu" to narrate. At the beginning, it is said that the feudal princes and countries established by King Wu of Zhou were not only recognized by Emperor Tian, ????but also treated by Emperor Tian as his own sons, and their role was to "have Zhou in the right order."
