Eastern Han Dynasty Taifu Zhao Jia

Zhao Jia

King Zhao Xiaocheng died in the 21st year of his reign (245 BC), and his son Zhao Yan succeeded him as King Zhao Mouxiang. Zhao Qian's mother was a singing girl, and King Mouxiang was mediocre. Because King Mouxiang doted on his mother, he deposed the virtuous crown prince Zhao Jia and made the virtuous Zhao Qian the crown prince. King Zhao Daoxiang died after reigning for nine years, and Zhao Qian succeeded him as King Zhao Youmiao.

In the seventh year of King Zhao's move (229 BC), the Qin people sent a large army to attack Zhao. Li Mu and Sima Shang led their troops to resist the enemy, but Qin could not defeat it. Zhao Wangqian had always behaved improperly, listened to slander, and placed Guo Kai in a high position. Qin used a plan to alienate Zhao, and ordered the king of Zhao to kill Liang generals Li Mu and Sima Shang, and replace them with Zhao Cong and Qi general Yan Ju. Zhao Cong was defeated and Yan Ju fled, so Zhao Wangqian surrendered. In October of the following year, Handan was merged into Qin.

Prince Jia of Zhao State (now northeast of Yu County, Hebei Province) became king. After Jing Ke failed to assassinate the King of Qin, the Qin army retaliated. Dai Wangjia wrote to King Yan and said: "The reason why the Qin army is so eager to pursue the Yan army is because of Prince Dan. Now if you kill Prince Dan and offer his head to the King of Qin, you will definitely get the King of Qin." Forgiveness, and Sheji may be lucky enough to be sacrificed." After that, Li Xin led his army to chase Prince Dan, who was hiding in the Yanshui River. King Yan sent an envoy to kill Prince Dan and prepare to sacrifice his head to the King of Qin.

In the 25th year of King Zhao Zheng of Qin (222 BC), Qin destroyed the dynasty and captured Gongzi Jia, and Zhao was finally destroyed.

Zhao Jia was the last king of the Zhao Kingdom. He was moved to Xirong by Qin Shihuang, and part of the Zhao family moved to Gansu and lived in Tianshui, forming the Tianshui Zhao family.
