#abilitiestraining# The introduction response is like ringing a bell. This is a very good metaphor. Bell ringers should understand the characteristics and performance of the bell, and then strike it in an appropriate method. The following is the Chinese classic "Book of Rites" shared by me: a good scholar. Welcome to read and reference!
A good scholar (1)
——No need to beat the drum too hard
Original text
A good scholar is a teacher and his efforts are doubled ( 2), and thus (3). A bad scholar is a diligent teacher but gets half the result, and therefore resents him. A person who is good at asking questions is like attacking a tough tree (4). He first understands the easy part, then the program part (5), and when it lasts a long time, he explains it to each other to solve the problem (6). Those who are not good at asking will do the opposite. Treating those who ask questions kindly is like ringing a bell. If you knock it small, it will chirp a little. If you knock it loud, it will chirp loudly. Wait for them to be calm, and then use all their sounds (7). Those who are not good at answering questions will do the same. These are all ways to learn.
Notes]
①This excerpt is selected from "Xue Ji". ②Easy: comfortable, here refers to low effort. Gong: effect. (3) Yong: credit. ④Gong: Governance, refers to the processing of wood. (5) Knot: The junction of the branches of the tree. Eye: The texture is not smooth. (6) Say: Same as "Yue". (7) Calmly: Same as "Chongrong", that is, ringing the bell.
Translation
For those who are good at learning, the teacher will have little effort, but they will receive great results. This is due to the teacher's good teaching. For people who are not good at learning, the teacher works hard but their own gains are very small, so the students will blame the teacher. People who are good at asking questions are like processing hard wood. They start with the easy-to-handle areas first, and then deal with the knots and uneven textures. Over time, the problems will be solved happily. People who are bad at asking questions are the opposite. A teacher who is good at answering questions is like ringing a bell. If you strike it gently, the bell will sound smaller. If you strike it harder, the bell will ring louder. After the bell rings, let it finish its sound. The opposite is true for teachers who are not good at answering questions. These are all ways to improve knowledge.
Interpretation
Responding is like ringing a bell. This is a very good metaphor. Bell ringers should understand the characteristics and performance of the bell, and then strike it in an appropriate method. Understanding bells is a prerequisite, and mastering the skills of ringing bells is secondary. Without familiarity with the characteristics and performance of clocks, it is impossible to talk about the skills themselves. Therefore, ringing the bell is a two-way process. The teacher's answer to the students' questions is also a two-way process. It requires a more accurate grasp of the students' questions, mentality, etc., so that the answers can be to the point.
From a student’s point of view, it is just like ringing a bell. If it is a good bell, there is no need to ring it hard or repeatedly. As the saying goes, you don’t need to beat the drum hard to make it sound. This depends on the performance of the bells and drums themselves. Broken bells and drums, or bells and drums that don’t make a sound, will not sound loud or thunderous no matter how hard they are struck. As far as people are concerned, there are two factors that affect accepting the teacher's guidance. One is your own understanding, and the other is the level of knowledge you have mastered. These two aspects are always interrelated. If you only have understanding and lack the necessary knowledge to support it, you will not be able to find a foothold; if you only have a belly full of book knowledge and cannot integrate it, knowledge will become a decoration and embellishment.
So, it is not easy to be a good bell ringer, and it is not easy to be a good bell. When a good bell ringer meets a good clock, it is naturally a beautiful match made in heaven.
