Popular version
The earliest edition of Compendium of Materia Medica is Hu Chenglong's Jinling edition, about 1593. Followed by 1603 Jiangxi edition published by Xia Conscience and Zhang Dingsi. Jiangxi Edition corrected some mistakes of Jinling Edition, and also corrected some good points of Jinling Edition.
Once again, it is the Dong Qichang Preface Hubei version of 1606. It and later "Shu Mei Yanmengge" and other Ming and Qing versions, mostly copied from Jiangxi version, the overall change is not big. Until 1885, Zhang Shaotang of Hefei revised the version of Wei Guzhai, making great changes and replacing hundreds of pictures. His corrections and mistakes increased significantly.
In the future, photocopying, typesetting and even 1957 People's Health Publishing House in Zhong Shiyin are generally based on single sheets of paper. There are thousands of mistakes caused by copying, engraving, correcting and reprinting in the past dynasties, which have seriously affected the quality of this book.
1982, People's Health Publishing House published a new proofreading edition. Based on the earlier Jiangxi edition, many mistakes and fallacies were corrected by other editions, which was well received by scholars. In 2004, People's Health Publishing House reprinted this book. In order to facilitate readers' retrieval, the "orthographic title stroke index" and "post-title phonetic index" are added at the end of the book.
