Is what is described in Shan Hai Jing the real situation in ancient times?
Shan Hai Jing was written in the pre-Qin period. It is a book used by the ancients to mainly record geography and humanities, which is not difficult to see from the title. Of course, regional products, "residents" and minerals are all mentioned. In ancient times, it generally refers to prehistoric times (before Xia Dynasty). Because there are no history books, all ancient humanistic things are "legends". So it is true or not, and there is no way to prove it. So whether it is true or not should be an unanswered question ~ but it can be clearly said that at least it is not all false. Many mountains and rivers recorded in Shan Hai Jing are still there today. After all, the terrain has not changed much. But some recorded creatures, or mythologized in many places, are called the earliest gods, and now many of them are extinct. It can be said that it is extinct, or some people say that it never existed. After all, there is no scientific evidence of fossils. Naturally, some fish and poultry similar to the records (location and appearance) still exist. Of course, there are also the "wonderful uses" of eating these creatures recorded in Shan Hai Jing, such as being extremely brave, extremely smart, and not getting lost when wearing lost branches. Although I haven't tried it, I don't know if anyone has tried it, but it's probably gone now ... If you say this is an exaggeration in Shan Hai Jing, fine. But I personally prefer to believe that in ancient times, these records were true, but now the times are chaotic and most creatures have lost their aura.
