Explanation of internal and external terms

Explanation of the term "external solution and internal harmony": the dispersion of evil spirits from the outside is called external solution, and the removal of evil spirits and the restoration of harmony is called internal harmony. Generally speaking, it usually means that the rash is transparent, the heat is reduced, and the look is refreshing.

External solution and internal harmony means that the disease is dispersed, health is restored, and the whole person feels refreshed. However, if the external solution is not harmonious inside, the name of the disease and syndrome is known. It means that after the external symptoms of exogenous diseases are relieved, the internal symptoms have not yet been reconciled. It is often caused by phlegm, food stagnation, blood stasis or yin injury.

"Treatise on Febrile Diseases: Differentiation of Taiyang Pulse Syndrome and Treatment": Taiyang stroke can be attacked if the lower part induces vomiting and reverses the symptoms. If the person suffers from sweating, occasional attacks, headache, hardness and fullness under the heart, pain under the hypochondrium, retching and shortness of breath, and sweating without aversion to cold, then the external solution is not harmonious, and Shizao Decoction is the main treatment.

Introduction to exogenous and superficial drugs

Most of the drugs that relieve external symptoms have a pungent taste, which can be dispersed and can cause the patient to sweat, so that the exogenous evil can be leaked out through sweat, causing external symptoms. To be relieved, that is what the "Nei Jing" says: if it is on the skin, it will be released by sweating. Tablet-relieving drugs are divided into warm and cool properties, and their indications are also different. Most of these drugs enter the lung meridian and bladder meridian, so their indications are related to the route of the bladder meridian of Foot Taiyang and the internal organs.

Clinically, there are two types of superficial syndrome: wind-cold syndrome and wind-heat syndrome. People with wind-cold should use pungent and warm medicine to relieve the surface; people with wind-heat should use pungent and cooling medicine to relieve the surface. In addition, if the superficial symptoms include deficiencies of Qi, blood, yin, and yang, it must be combined with tonic prescriptions to strengthen the body and eliminate evil, so that the good can overcome the evil. Therefore, the medicines for relieving the symptoms are divided into three categories: pungent and warm to relieve the exterior, pungent and cool to relieve the exterior, and strengthening and relieving the exterior.
