Why is it said that there is a person in "Xilai Le, the Miracle Doctor"?

The TV series "Miracle Doctor Xilaile" was once popular all over the country, and it is still talked about after several years. The reason why its influence is great is not only because of the twists and turns of the plot and the vivid characters, but also because of the fantastic treatment methods and profound Chinese medicine culture. Then maybe you have to ask, does Xilaile really exist? The answer is yes.

The character Xilaile is adapted from the deeds of Liu Wansu, one of the "Four Great Masters of the Jin and Yuan Dynasties". Liu Wansu, whose courtesy name was Shouzhen, also known as Shouzhenzi, and who called himself Tongxuan Chushi, was a native of Hejian (now Hejian, Hebei Province) in the Jin Dynasty.

Because he lived in Hejian (now Hejian County, Hebei Province) for many years, he was called "Mr. Hejian" or "Liu Hejian". He was smart since he was a child and was addicted to medical books. Due to his mother's illness, he failed to see the doctor three times and unfortunately died of illness, which made him determined to study medicine. Later he became a great figure in the medical field. Let’s talk about a folk legend about him.

In order to commemorate Liu Wansu's outstanding contributions to the people, later generations continued to build temples, carve stone tablets, and praise him in the hundreds of years after his death. To this day, there is still his tomb between Zhongliu Shou Village and Hou Liushou Village in Xijiuji Township, Hejian County. The "Liu Ye Temple" was destroyed by Japanese imperialism and renovated after liberation. It is held on the 15th day of the first lunar month every year. The grand temple fair held to commemorate him shows that his influence was far-reaching.
