Tokyo University of the Arts, referred to as "University of the Arts", is a national university of the arts in Japan, located in Ueno Park, Taitung District, Tokyo. The main purpose is to train artists in the fields of fine arts and music, which consists of two departments 14 disciplines.

Tokyo University of the Arts was formed by the merger of Tokyo Art School and Tokyo Conservatory of Music, both of which were founded in 1887, and Tokyo University of the Arts was formed by the merger of two schools in 1949. 1963, the college began to set up a graduate school. At first, only master's degree was awarded, and doctor's degree was awarded after 1977. Since then, the college's educational and scientific research capabilities have been improved as a whole.

Tokyo University of the Arts is a member of Japan's super-internationalized university program and an art institution with a long history in Japan. Together with Kyoto University of the Arts (Kyoto University of the Arts), Aichi University of the Arts (Aichi University of the Arts), Kanazawa University of Arts and Crafts (Kanazawa Art) and Okinawa University of the Arts (Okinawa Art), it is also known as the five national art universities in Japan, and it is the largest public art university in China. It is also the only national art university in Japan and is unanimously recognized as the highest artist training institution in Japan.
