In modern history, more than 10 kinds of virulent infectious diseases, such as malaria, cholera, typhoid fever and plague, are prevalent in the border areas where the Dai people live in concentrated communities, especially malaria, and most of the Dai people lack medical care and medicines. Hospitals, health and epidemic prevention stations, malaria prevention centers and maternal and child health care institutions were quickly established. There are hospitals in rural areas and many villages have medical stations. Plague has long been eradicated, infectious diseases such as malaria, cholera and typhoid fever have been controlled, and people's health level has been significantly improved. Mangshi was once a famous malaria area, with an original Dai population of 5,000. Due to the invasion of epidemic disease, 1.949 has only 1.800 people left, and it has become an industrial new city with a population of nearly 30,000.
