The New Preface is a series of historical stories compiled by Liu Xiang, a famous scholar in the Western Han Dynasty, for the political purpose of satire and exhortation. There are five volumes of miscellaneous works in the new preface, one volume of prizing luxury, one volume of intermediary stone, one volume of bravery and two volumes of good plan. Collect historical events and legends from Shun Yu to Han Dynasty and sort them out. The historical events recorded are quite different from Zuo Zhuan, Warring States Policy and Historical Records. The author also compiled a book "Shuo Yuan", which is similar in nature. The allusion to "Ye Gong Long Hao" comes from this book.
Liu Xiang's achievements.
During the Han Dynasty, Xuan Di was Liu Xiang's physician. Zong Zheng was appointed Emperor of the Han Dynasty. Against eunuch Gong Hong, Shi Xian went to prison, waiting to be released. Later, he was imprisoned for anti-Gong and anti-Xian. After Emperor Cheng of Han acceded to the throne, he was hired as Dr. Guanglu, renamed "Xiang", and the official was a captain. I was ordered to lead the school secretary and write down "Don't record".
His prose is mainly Shu Qinxu and Ancient Books of Collation, among which the famous ones are Jian Ying Chang Ling Shu and The Narration of Warring States Policy, which are characterized by simple narration, fluent theory and ease. Bielu is the earliest public book catalogue in China. Three articles, most of which are lost. Today, there are books such as New Preface, Shuoyuan, Biography of Lienv, Warring States Policy, Biography of Liexian, etc. His book The Five Classics and Yi Tong was compiled by Ma Guohan of A Qing Dynasty. The Songs of Chu was compiled by Liu Xiang, and The Classic of Mountains and Seas was compiled by Liu Xiang and his son Liu Xin.
