2. It is best to wash your hands before reciting the Heart Sutra, so be respectful.

5. Then you can recite the full text, or you can recite the Heart Sutra 9 times and add 2 1 heart mantra.
Matters needing attention in reciting the Heart Sutra
First, be sure to wash your hands. This is the minimum respect for the Bodhisattva, because your hands will come into contact with many unclean things, and the scriptures are sacred. So in order not to defile the scriptures, you must wash your hands, even if you can recite them, so that you can clean the dirty things and change clothes if you can.
Second, you can't eat too smelly food before chanting, especially onions, garlic and shredded ginger. These things are not recommended. You'd better be vegetarian before chanting Buddha's Heart Sutra, because if you eat meat while chanting Buddha's Heart Sutra, it's killing life, so it's useless for you to recite Buddha's Heart Sutra, just like pouring boiling water on the grass in the name of love.
