Mr Albino has great respect for his master.

I entered the Chinese Department of Peking University from 1950, suspended for one year, and graduated from 1955. During this time, I have been taught by many masters. Below I will record some past events of two teachers, Pujiang Qing and Zhou Zumo, to show my admiration and memory.

Autumn rain, phoenix tree becomes a swan song, spring breeze, peaches and plums are sad.

-memories of Pujiang Qing

sir

"Who knows how old you are!" Young people who love literature now may not know much about Mr. Pu. However, in the 1930s and 1940s, even at the beginning of liberation, the name of "Shuangqing" on Tsinghua campus was still very loud. They are Mr. Zhu Peixian (Zi Qing) and Mr. Pujiang Qing from the Chinese Department of Tsinghua University. Both names have the word "Qing", and Mr. Pu's name is very elegant. At that time, someone wrote a couplet for this purpose, "Love in Pujiang", and the conditions were extremely harsh:11960/99916 radicals should be consistent; 3. Name to name, place to place. I heard that no one has come out yet, and it has become absolute.

Teacher Pu (1904 ~1957)1922 to 1926 graduated from the Foreign Languages Department of Nanjing Southeast University. At school, he was appreciated by Mr. Wu Mi, who is proficient in Chinese and Western. After graduation, he was recommended to be the teaching assistant of Master Chen Yinque in the "Chinese School" of Tsinghua Research Institute. From then on, I transferred to China to study. Because of the need of work, under the guidance of Mr. Chen, he taught himself Sanskrit, astronomy and other academics. He can be said to be a learned man who knows the world and China and the West. 1929, "Chinese Studies" was cancelled and Mr. Pu was transferred to the Chinese Department. 1952, adjusted in the department, adjusted to teach in the Chinese Department of Peking University until his death.

My mother often tells me a past story, that is, in the summer of 193 1, Mr. Zhu Peixian (Ziqing) just got engaged to Mr. Chen Zhuyin, rented several rooms in Zhongnanhai and lived a life of spiritual love. Mr Chen is a friend of my grandmother and my mother. She is from Chengdu. She was a disciple of Mr Qi Baishi and Mr Pu Xiyuan at that time. She is very active in Peiping's literary and art circles, and sometimes participates in poetry singing performances in Zhenguang Cinema or Tsinghua University Auditorium. This is an odd thing, but it is very popular with people in higher education. But she has no home in Beiping, and sometimes she lives in my grandmother's house. When we got engaged, we were still the matchmaker and the woman's house.

When Mr. Zhu got engaged, he remembered that his good friend Mr. Pu didn't have a girlfriend. So I asked my grandmother to be a matchmaker and introduced my grandmother's cousin to Mr. Pu. The young lady is about the same age as Mr. Chen Zhuyin, about 25 years old. At that time, she was already a big girl. The blind date is in Tang Yilan, Beihai. Mr. Pu, Mr. Zhu and Mr. Chen San are all here. That woman is that lady, and so are my grandmother and my mother. According to the superstitious theory of mothers, having a child-preferably the eldest son-with both parents on a blind date can contribute to a happy event. I was over one year old and had all the conditions to attend the meeting as a mascot. But the result of face-to-face with the young lady was that Mr. Pu was considered as a "man without life", and the matter fell through. Pu Songling didn't die forever, but the young lady died of uterine cancer in the mid-1940s, just before Pu Songling left.

That meeting unexpectedly decided my life. It turned out that I was playing with my mother's pen. Teacher Pu and Teacher Zhu praised me out of courtesy, saying that they could cultivate literature in the future. My mother was serious, and then she was serious, which led to my partiality in middle school, ignorance of mathematics, physics and chemistry, and learning Chinese as a foreign language.

When I was studying in the Chinese Department of Peking University, I knew Mr. Pu as 1952. 1954 In the autumn, Mr. Pu gave us the third paragraph of the History of China Literature, that is, the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, with the teacher as a teaching assistant. In the first semester, I served as class representatives with the president of Cheng Yizhong University, the former deputy editor-in-chief of Zhonghua Book Company and now the librarian of the Central Museum of Literature and History. At that time, Mr. Pu was in poor health and couldn't get up in the morning. Classes are scheduled for the last two classes in the morning. Sometimes when the bell rings and the teacher hasn't arrived, the two of us will go to Teacher Pu's house in Yandong Park to wait on the teacher and put a hat on him. We often use a woman's bicycle to push the teacher back and carry him to class in Puzhai. Mr. Pu can sing Kunqu opera. He taught Yuan and Ming operas and was often influenced by singing. His old man's house is very serious, and he must make up for the time he is late. This is painful for everyone. After all, we were a national supply system at that time, providing meals, with 80 cents a month 12 yuan. Every day, rice and flour, four dishes and one soup, often eat small stew at noon, a table for eight people. If you sit at the same table with other departments, you will be left with vermicelli if you go late. And the chef is still waiting to clean the canteen. It is common for Mr. Pu to delay class for half an hour, sometimes up to an hour. Everyone is likely to go on strike, and class representatives are caught in it and suffer greatly. From the second semester, I retired from the torrent and gave this job to Li, who will be my lover. Then there is a jingle: "The teaching building of the day before yesterday (according to: today is the first teaching building) is in the west, and the Songlin Mausoleum is still in Xiaosuo; Singing to the throat of Ming Chengzu, crying in my heart! " Now that I think about it, it is not necessarily the best policy for an old gentleman to teach basic courses. It should vary from person to person.

But Mr. Pu loves students very much and wants to pass on his unique skills. One late autumn night, President Cheng and I went to see him. He insisted on seeing us out and said that we should take a walk. On the way, I pointed to the starry sky and talked about astronomy. Unfortunately, we can't read it! Seeing our blank faces, the teacher is probably disappointed and won't mention it again.

President Xu Shu, currently a doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Linguistics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, is a top student in our class, and has published related articles since the second grade. Before graduation, Mr. Lv Shuxiang and Mr. Zhang Zhigong summoned him separately, and both of them said they would call on him. But that year, the secondary school developed greatly, and some of our classes were assigned there after graduation. President Xu was assigned to the electric power school, and Chinese was not the main course. He was a little depressed. One day, he met Mr. Pu and told him about his depression. But Mr. Pu said, "You can learn electricity!" "Later, President Xu told me that both of them laughed. Think carefully, the teacher has a profound meaning: what songs to sing on what mountains. Just stick to "research". Therefore, every time I arrive at a new post, I must obey the needs of my work. I will not neglect my research in my work, and I will make a difference more or less. Are inspired by "learning electricity"!

Cheng Yizhong, a senior, was assigned to Xi Petroleum School to teach Chinese. 1956, Peking University once again enrolled graduate students. He wanted to take the exam, so he asked his senior Xu Shu to ask Mr. Pu nearby. Unexpectedly, Mr. Pu said there was no need to take the exam. Mr. Pu told the department that he had just returned from Ann. Soon, Cheng Xiong was born into Yutong. It was risky to do so at that time. Cheng University has no special relationship with Mr. Pu. Several graduate students and teaching assistants instructed by Mr. Pu in his later years, such as Fu Xuanyan and Fu Xuanyan, have made their own achievements. The teacher's only daughter, Pu Hanming, was studying in the Chinese Department of Beijing Normal University. Teacher Mocha's training and expectation for her is not as ardent as that of several graduate students. After graduation, Han Ming was assigned to Qinghai, but Jenny didn't stay. It can be seen that Mr. Wang regards scholarship as a public instrument. I often recite Lu Fangweng's famous sentence: "The heroes in the world are only kings!"

When Mr. Pu died, Mr. You Zecheng (Guo En), then director of the teaching and research section, made several elegiac couplets for the graduate students and teaching assistants in the room. Cheng Yizhong read it to me, and the last two sentences of a pair left a deep impression on me. But my feeling is that this couplet was not written by the boss, Mr. You, but by a sad young man, and probably by Cheng Ge. That is:

Autumn rain is a swan song, and spring breeze is full of sadness!

Teacher Zhou's two or three things

Teacher Zumo, a famous contemporary linguist and professor of Chinese Department in Peking University, died in Beijing Hospital at 3 am on June 1995 14. As an old student, I am very sad. The teacher instructed me to write some materials to commemorate the years when I followed Teacher Zhou. I dare not resign, but I feel sad and confused every time I think about my legacy. Zaza wrote it, just a little careless.

Author 65438-0950 joined the Chinese Department of Peking University. At the age of 36, Mr. Zhou was the youngest associate professor in the department, in the prime of life. In the new year, the teacher opened the course "How to Use Reference Books" in the reference room of the Chinese Department on the second floor of the North Building of the Beach. This is the first time that the department has opened it after liberation, and it is an elective course for the first to fourth grades. The teacher has excellent weather vane, clear pronunciation, clear explanation and orderly discussion, supplemented by hands-on practical teaching, which is very popular among students. One day, when Mr. Zhou finished teaching the correct course and was still free, he showed you the learning method. The main way to teach yourself is to drill into the library. You can browse in many ways. After a long time, you can cancel the appointment by writing a blog. And give some examples that I read myself to prove it. I listened to it at that time and admired it. Unexpectedly, as soon as the teacher's voice fell, a senior responsible classmate invited the teacher out. When I came back, I was ashamed to see the teacher. I immediately recalled that some students criticized that now that we are liberated, we can no longer guide students to drill into the library and be divorced from reality. So what I just said is invalid, and I want to delve into it here. I thought what the teacher said was right. From now on, I will do what the teacher criticized, which will benefit me for life. Later, I read Chairman Mao's quotations: "Self-study." I feel that it coincides with what Teacher Zhou said.

Soon, the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea started, followed by the first large-scale intellectual "bath". Mr. Zhou is a young teacher with a clear history, and is arranged in the first batch, which is intended to be a demonstration for the old teachers. The location is still in the department reference room, where representatives of teachers and students from various departments gather. I curled up on a small bench in the corner, but I was shouldering the heavy responsibility of recording. After Mr. Zhou's inspection, Mr. Luo Shentian (Chang Pei) took the lead as a teacher. The two things mentioned in it are fresh in my memory today. One is that after Mr. Zhou joined the Chinese Department of Peking University on 1932, she appeared in the show. At that time, the Chinese department was divided into three groups: literature, language and writing, and revision of ancient books, and was a sophomore group. Teacher Zhou intends to join the literature group. Mr. Shen Jianshi said: "Every three years, a healthy person will be born in the language and writing group of the Chinese Department of Peking University. The former is Wei, followed by Ding Shengshu, and the successor is Wang! " Teacher Zhou was so excited that he decided to join the language group and study hard. He made great contributions at an early age. Another thing is that Mr. Hu Shi, then dean of the College of Liberal Arts, has repeatedly put out the wind and wanted to talk to Mr. Zhou, who always avoided talking about it. At that time, many people wanted to climb Hu's Longmen, but Mr. Zhou was indifferent. After more than 30 years, the author and Mr. Zhou have established a family-style father-son relationship. One day, I sat at the table and asked about it. Teacher Zhou said that in the Tsinghua entrance examination of 1932, Mr. Chen Yinque gave a "Sun Walker", and Mr. Zhou answered "Hu Shizhi" (it was later learned that Mr. Chen and others also answered in this way). Peking University and Tsinghua were admitted at the same time. Miss Zhou entered Peking University because of the high tuition fees in Tsinghua. When President Hu heard that such students were coming, he let the wind out and invited Mr. Zhou to talk at his home in Dongchang Hutong. Mr. Zhou believes that although Mr. Hu's moral articles have been taught by a generation, they are not a system with what he has learned, and he suddenly calls them and is suspected of seizing them. Decent scholars can't do this. The author listened with awe.

1952 After the adjustment of national colleges and universities, 1953 When the school started in autumn, Mr. Zhou opened the first class of Modern Chinese in Peking University, and the third and fourth grades were in the same class. The class representative in grade four is Chu Binjie, a senior (currently a professor in the teaching and research section of ancient literature of Chinese Department of Peking University), and the author in grade three. President Chu University is approaching graduation, and there are many things to do. I will be the "plenipotentiary general representative" of this course, and I will often go to see Mr. Zhou, and my lectures will start from this time. I still remember the first time I went to No.280 Middle School of Peking University, the teacher politely asked me to volunteer, which meant I wanted to do language studies. I answered bluntly, I am Lickitung, and I can't pronounce. I'm afraid I won't have any future in this respect, but I'm willing to learn from my teacher in other aspects. The teacher nodded slightly and didn't think it was a surprise. Since then, the relationship between teachers and students has become closer. In the past 40 years, I have been going to see my teacher once or twice a month, except when I am afraid of bringing trouble to my teacher. Gradually, there is a deep affection between teachers and students.

The teacher talks about topics related to academic and literature and history materials. Limited to space, let's take an example.

At a meeting, Mr. Zhou talked about two things that must be done in academic research. One thing is that we should read the most basic books in the academic field word for word, and we'd better learn to take notes on those books. The teacher cited his own research as an example. For example, when he was in the third or fourth grade of university, he was commissioned by the Institute of History and Language of Academia Sinica to collate the Song version of Guang Yun, which was later made into a Guang Yun school-based edition and published in 1937. This is the first book published by Teacher Zhou. Teacher Zhou stressed that this kind of basic work must be stepped up when you are young and strong, and you will benefit for life. Another point is to stay ahead of the times and do work that no one has done before. The teacher also takes his own research as an example, such as The Collection of Rhyme Books in Tang and Five Dynasties and The Study of Rhyme Evolution in Han, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, which are all summary works that have opened up a wide field and are the starting point for future generations to learn this aspect. Based on these two points, Mr. Zhou is quite dissatisfied with some contemporary doctoral dissertations and postdoctoral research directions, and thinks that they are often "big and empty, not practical".

Teacher Zhou is very polite in dealing with people. When I was studying at school in the 1950s, Mr. Zhou rode a bicycle to and from the school. When you meet a student, salute the teacher. Be sure to get off the bus and shake hands. This practice was unique in Peking University at that time. The author has repeatedly pointed out that teachers don't have to be like this. Teacher Zhou should "get used to it" and educate the author to form a good habit of speaking etiquette. Since then, I have tried to learn all kinds of manners and manners from my teachers and made them a habit, which is very effective in changing my temperament.

However, Miss Zhou never keeps a straight face, and sometimes she plays jokes on her old classmates. When I talk to my teacher on the phone, I often end with the sentence "If the teacher has no other instructions, the students will ask for leave with you". Teacher Zhou sometimes says, "Leave? I don't agree! " "Then students will play truant." So it ended in laughter. The story spread among the old students as a joke.

Limited to space, I can only write here.
