Abu Simpo Temple, located 290km south of Aswan, Egypt, was built in BC 1300-BC 1233. It is said that its name comes from the name of the first guide (a little boy) who brought westerners to the scene.
Located on the west bank of Lake Nasser, it consists of an arched gate carved from a cliff, a giant statue of Ramses II cliff, front and rear pillar halls and shrines. Abu Simbel, together with many sites in the lower reaches of Philae Island, are Nubian sites and have been designated as World Heritage sites by UNESCO.
