Translation of Feng Yichuan, Book of the Later Han Dynasty

Feng Yi is humble and conciliatory in his dealings with others and does not boast. When traveling and meeting other generals, they would drive their carriages out of the way to avoid them. Flags are marked when the army advances and stops, and it is said to be the most disciplined among all the troops. Whenever he stopped to camp somewhere and other generals sat together to discuss their achievements, Feng Yi often retreated to the tree alone. The army called him "General Big Tree". After Handan was conquered, the tasks of the generals were re-arranged. Everyone was assigned a subordinate, and the soldiers all said they were willing to follow General Dashu. Emperor Guangwu praised him for this.
