(66) Xuande: the year number of Zhu Zhanji, Xuanzong of the Ming Dynasty, * * * ten years (1426-1435). Go out of the west gate of Hejin County, walk three miles to the northwest, and reach the foot of Longmen Mountain. On the east and west sides are layers of mountains and towering peaks, which go straight into the sky. The Yellow River runs down from the northwest canyon. Here, the mountains are interrupted and the river flows. The steep rocks on both banks stand face to face, and Yu Xia's great contribution to dredging and excavation is the most prominent here.

Starting from the root of the southeast mountain, dig holes in the rock, erect piles, build plank roads in the air above the river, and hover to the foot of the mountain. There is an open flat land by the river, which is two or three acres of Fiona Fang, with more stones and less soil. There is a Wang Yu Temple in the center, named Mingde Palace, which is very grand in scale. When I visited the main hall, I meditated on Yu Xia's great achievements and stood in awe for a long time. There are many pine trees and nameless trees in the yard. The roots are lined with rocks and soil, protruding and connected with each other. Dense branches and dense leaves are connected to block out the sun. The bark and trunk are old and tall, and the image is very firm, as if some warriors are fighting alone and fighting for unyielding.

There is a stone peak in the southwest outside the temple gate, standing alone in the middle of the river. Standing on the stone steps, I reached the top. There is a Lin Siting on the top of the hill. It is impossible to use wood because the mountains are high and the wind is strong. It's all made of bricks. Looking down from the entrance of the pavilion, the Yellow River is rolling and rushing, impacting and oscillating in three directions, which makes people suspect that the stone peak is also shaking. Turning to the north, I saw huge canyons, vermilion rocks, green stone walls, and spit out clouds floating in the smoke. When they dispersed, they became clear, when they closed, they became dark, and soon they became ever-changing. There are mountains connected with mountains in the west, winding past. Looking east at the biggest mountain, it is as dark as the sky. To the south, I saw mighty rivers, rough waves, rocky islands and beaches, high plains and broken embankments, villages and Woods shrouded in smoke, full sails fluttering in the wind, and big ships in the waves, appearing and disappearing vaguely. Huashan, Tongguan and many mountains in Shaanxi and Henan seem to be in sight. What a rare sight in the world!

Follow the mountain road and descend from the east of the mountain peak. In one place, a stone cliff was dug and a water tower was built with crossed wooden frames. There is a hole in the floor in the center of the water tower. A derrick and winch were installed in the hole, and a rope was hung to draw water from the river. Leaning against the railing, the cool wind came, just like the legendary fierce jade mouth standing in mid-air with the wind. From the north side of Shuilou Mountain Road to the back of Wang Yu Temple, I walked more than 100 steps, and reached the right side of the ravine. Looking down, I couldn't see the bottom. The mountains are in the east, and the Yellow River is in the west. The ravine is far from Zhangba from south to north. There is an old stump across it, which is a bridge that can be crossed from head to toe. About 200 steps north of the ravine, there is a small temple with a plaque that says "Houtu Temple". The peaks of Beishan Mountain are steep, and the roots are connected with rivers. This exhausted the mountain road to the east of Houtu Temple. There is a cave, as empty as a hall. The upside-down stalactites are long and short, some are like human figures, some are like bird wings, some are like animal mouths, some are like liver and lungs, some are like tumors, some are like an ancient tripod dragging three feet, some are like a set of bells, some are like jade plates that have not been finished yet, and some are like minerals that have not yet been put into the furnace. Its shape is really impossible to say complete. The high spring water dripped on the stone and drummed. The stones under the cave are scattered, lying, askew and upright; Like a bed, like a coffee table, like a screen, you can sit, help and lean. The climate in the cave is cool and cloudy, and it doesn't feel stuffy even on rainy days. It just makes people feel that their muscles are cold, so they can't be delayed for too long. Then hit the old stump bridge, walk past the left side of Mingde Palace and walk up the stone steps. There is a Taoist temple on the hillside in the southeast, and the terrain is almost the same as that of Lin Siting. From there, you can also enjoy the Yellow River and Longmen Mountain. This is from the stone steps down to the plank road, to the Yellow River to see the ferry, and then walk back along Dongshan.

The time is May 25th of the first year of Xuande. Yang Jingduan is a fellow traveler.
