How does Chinese medicine regulate uterine bleeding after taking birth control pills?

Most women have no obvious menstrual abnormalities during taking birth control pills, but a few women can have uterine bleeding during taking birth control pills, which is called "breakthrough bleeding" by western medicine.

This bleeding is caused by endometrial necrosis and shedding.

Uterine bleeding caused by taking contraceptives is related to insufficient dosage of contraceptives and individual differences.

Chinese medicine is mainly responsible for deficiency of liver and kidney and deficiency of both qi and blood.

(1) Deficiency of liver and kidney: Deficiency of liver and kidney, or overwork, or abortion, which damages liver and kidney and leads to uterine bleeding.

(2) Deficiency of qi and blood: Deficiency of spleen and weakness of qi, or repeated abortion and other injuries to qi and blood, leading to deficiency of qi and blood, dereliction of duty in immobilization and metrorrhagia.

Deficiency is the main cause of this disease, and it is necessary to distinguish between liver and kidney and qi and blood in clinic. The main treatment is nourishing liver and kidney, benefiting qi and nourishing blood.

(1) Deficiency of liver and kidney: vaginal bleeding after taking birth control pills, with more or less amount and thin red color.

Dizziness, tinnitus, soreness of waist and knees. The tongue is red, the coating is thin, and the pulse is heavy and thin. Treatment should nourish liver and kidney, regulate menstruation and stop bleeding. The preferred prescriptions are Zuogui Pill (Jing Yue Quan Shu) and Erzhi Pill (Fang Yi Ji Jie): Radix Rehmanniae Preparata 24g, Eclipta prostrata 15g, Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Fructus Corni, Fructus Lycii, Colla cornus Cervi, Colla Plastri Testudinis, Semen Cuscutae, Fructus Ligustri Lucidi 12g, and Achyranthis Radix 9g. Radix Rubiae, Herba Cirsii, and Sanguisorba officinalis 12g to stop bleeding. Add 3g of Notoginseng Radix (Radix Notoginseng) and 0 g of Cortex Moutan/kloc-to promote blood circulation and stop bleeding.

Reference: white yellow soup. Radix Rehmanniae Preparata and Rhizoma Dioscoreae each 65438±05g, Cortex Moutan, Poria, Cornus officinalis and Alismatis Rhizoma each 65438±00g, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae with salt and Cortex Phellodendri with salt 6g. (Suitable for those with yin deficiency and fire excess).

(2) Deficiency of both qi and blood: vaginal bleeding after taking birth control pills is more or less, unclean and dripping, pale and thin. Pale, listless, loss of appetite. Pale tongue; Thin coating, thin or weak pulse. It is advisable to replenish qi and blood, regulate menstruation and stop bleeding. The preferred prescription is Guipi Decoction. Stir-fried Cimicifuga rhizome 10g, palm charcoal 12g, Herba et Gemma Agrimoniae and cuttlefish bone 15g can be added to stop bleeding.

Reference prescription: Bazhen Decoction. Angelica sinensis, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, Poria, Atractylodis Rhizoma each 12g, Radix Codonopsis and Rhizoma Chuanxiong each 10g, and Radix Glycyrrhizae 6g (suitable for patients with deficiency of qi and blood and less bleeding).
