Ji Xianlin (19 1 1—2009) was born in Qingping, Shandong. 65438-0930, entered the Department of Western Literature in Tsinghua University. From 65438 to 0935, he entered the Indian Studies Department of the University of G? ttingen in Germany, and successively mastered ancient languages such as Sanskrit, Pali, Buddhist mixed Sanskrit and Tuholo. From 65438 to 0946, he returned to China and was hired as Professor Peking University, who presided over the establishment of the Department of Oriental Languages and Literature. 1956 was elected as a member of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of China Academy of Sciences. 1978, he served as vice president of Peking University and director of South Asia Institute of China Academy of Social Sciences.
Mr Ji Xianlin is a famous writer, linguist, educator, social activist, translator and essayist in China. Academic research fields mainly include ancient Indian language, Buddhist history of China and India, translation and interpretation of Tuholo, cultural exchange history between China and India, comparative literature, literary theory, oriental culture, Dunhuang studies and so on. This is rare at home and abroad.
