During the period of 202 1 and 10, the ancient port site of Shuomen, Wenzhou was discovered in cooperation with the preliminary archaeological work of Wangjiang Road tunnel project. The main remains are the ancient city water, the related architectural remains of Luchengmen, group docks, bathing places, wooden plank roads, dry fence buildings, water wells and so on. In addition, tons of important cultural relics have been unearthed, such as Song and Yuan porcelain pieces and various lacquerware.
The site is located in the east section of Wangjiang East Road, Lucheng District, Wenzhou City, outside Shuomen, the north gate of Wenzhou Ancient City, with Haitan Mountain in the east and Oujiang River in the north, which echoes the Jiang Xinyu Twin Towers across the river. Except for the site of Shuomen Wengcheng at the east and west ends and the bank of Shuimen River, the excavation area is mainly in an east-west belt shape, which is located in two rows of engineering piles in the north and south, roughly parallel to the modern coastline.

1, wharf
Except for 1 pier site, most of them are step piers in the Northern Song Dynasty. The sloping wharf is built on the bedrock at the foot of the mountain, and is made of blocks of stone, showing a gentle slope. The stepped wharf extends from the river bank to the waterway, showing a rectangular or strip-shaped stepped plane and adopting a stone-wrapped soil core structure. The middle of the dock is filled with wooden boards with square bricks, which are beautifully laid.
2. shipwreck
The two sunken ships found in the ruins are both lucky boats. The remaining bow and part of the hull were severely deformed. It is divided into north and south sections, with a total residual length of 12.4m and a maximum residual width of 4.1m. The shell plates overlap like fish scales and are wedged with nails. There are copper coins from Bao Tong Pass on board. According to the number of remaining bulkheads, the ship is about 20 meters long. Another sunken ship, 9 meters deep, was found at the bottom of the foundation pit of the Western Tunnel, and it is still being excavated.
