Collection of Ancient and Modern Books, with a volume of *** 10000 and a directory of 40 volumes, was originally named Collection of Ancient and Modern Books, which was a large-scale book edited by Chen Menglei (1650- 174 1), a Fujian official in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty.

After 28 years of editing, the book is divided into 6 parts and 32 codes. This is the largest and most informative book in existence. Ancient and modern books have a wide range of collections, ranging from astronomy to geography, including human beings, animals, insects, literature, music and so on. It is a collection of books before the Qing Dynasty and a treasure house for researchers in various disciplines to study and continue the achievements of their ancestors. Because this book was written at the end of feudal society, it overcame the unscientific arrangement in the past. Now some quoted ancient books have been lost, and many zero-chapter sentences can be preserved through such books.

The picture of the whole book owned by the website comes from the scanned copy of Wu Yingtang by Zhonghua Book Company 1934. Since the compilation of 1984 Comprehensive Index of Ancient and Modern Books, the indexes used in this website have experienced mimeographed edition (1984,800,000 words, three editions) and printed edition (1988). Published by Zhonghua Book Company and Bashu Book Company), electronic version 1.0 (1998,120,000 words, jointly published by Golden Bay Electronic Audio-visual Publishing House and Guangxi Normal University Press), electronic version 2.0 (38 million in 2007, CD version, to be published; 2009 online edition) and other four stages. The index data is constantly expanding and improving.

The index won many honors: the printed edition won the second prize of the first humanities and social sciences of the State Education Commission, the first prize of social sciences in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the special prize of China Index Society and many other awards. The electronic version of 1.0 was listed by the General Administration of Press and Publication as a national key electronic publication in the Ninth Five-Year Plan and a gift project for the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which was well received by experts.

The online version is based on CD version 2.0, which has been updated. It uses 52 index databases with 1 1890 13 entries and ***38359673 words. It is the largest index database of ancient books at present.

The information collected by the Department of Integrated Medicine of Ancient and Modern Books is very rich. For the convenience of readers, People's Health Publishing House specially photocopied this department at 1959, and named it "The Complete Works of the Integrated Medical Department of Ancient and Modern Books", which was bound into twelve volumes and widely circulated.
