In the thirty-sixth year of Jiajing, a fire broke out in the palace, endangering the Wenlou. After the fire, Emperor Jiajing had the idea of making a separate copy of Yongle Dadian. The re-recording of the duplicate was not completed until the first year of Qin Long, which was completely consistent with the format and binding of the original Yongle Dadian.

In June of the 26th year of Guangxu, Eight-Nation Alliance invaded Beijing, and Dongjiaominxiang became the battlefield of scattered books. The invaders plundered the ceremony at will and almost all of it was burned. The survivors were looted by the invaders as trophies, or picked up by some domestic investigators who knew the value of this book.

The remnant stars of the ceremony are scattered in the hands of public and private collectors all over the world. At present, about 400 volumes are distributed in more than 30 units in 10 countries.
