The library of Beijing Normal University starts from the library of Shi Jing University Teachers College 1902. 19 17, the library of Beijing Normal University was formally established. The total area is13000m2. In order to meet the school's discipline construction and development goals, "new library building" has sprung up like mushrooms after rain and was put into use on 20 1 1. According to the characteristics of normal colleges and the conscious accumulation of more than a hundred years, the library has rich collection resources and gradually formed its own characteristics. The collection of education, literature and history is more systematic and rich, and the collection is excellent. By the end of 2007, the library had more than 3.57 million printed documents, including books, periodicals and dissertations in Chinese and foreign languages. About 190 Chinese and foreign databases have been introduced, including more than 36,000 Chinese and foreign full-text electronic journals, more than 1.35 million full-text dissertations and 580,000 Chinese and foreign electronic books. While strengthening the construction of literature resources, we should pay attention to the construction of characteristic resources, and build more than 20 full-text and secondary literature databases of characteristic collection resources around teacher education and educational science.
As the first user in Asia, in September 20001,the library successfully introduced the library automation integrated management system ALEPH500 of Israel Ex-libris company, and completed the sinicization of the system, which has now been upgraded to 18 version. In 2004, the powerful library information portal system MetaLib and link server system SFX were launched, which integrated various databases on one platform for retrieval and provided convenient services for users.
The library actively participates in digital library construction projects such as CALIS, CADAL and CADLIS, actively expands cooperation and exchanges with domestic and foreign counterparts, and arranges the study and training of library staff in a planned way. The 11th Five-Year Development Plan of Beijing Normal University Library points out: "With digital library construction as the center, information service as the leading factor, reasonable allocation of literature resources, perfect service facilities, scientific and efficient management, the comprehensive management level of libraries ranks among the top in domestic university libraries."
