What happened in the third stage of the development of the art of war in the late Qing Dynasty?
The third stage is from the end of the Sino-Japanese War to the end of the Qing Dynasty. During this period, the Qing government carried out military reform and introduced a large number of codes, monographs and textbooks reflecting German and Japanese military thoughts. In addition, books on military basic theories such as Strategy, Military System, Military Science Textbook and Law of War have also come out one after another. With the deepening of military reform, people try to establish China's military theory system on the basis of absorbing foreign military theories and combining their own reality. 1898, Xu compiled a new book on military science, which was the beginning of this effort. Chen Longchang's A Brief Introduction to Chinese and Western Military Strategies and Yi's General Meaning of Chinese and Western Art of War are also influential military works in this period.
