Construction of the National Library of Japan's Parliament

In the early days of the establishment of the National Library of Congress of Japan, all buildings were scattered in various countries except Akasaka's departure from the palace. The new building is on the north side of the main building, connected with the main building through a corridor, forming an organic whole. This new building is a rectangular building. There are 4 floors above ground and 8 floors underground, with a total area of 72,942 square meters. The stacks are all underground, with 8 floors and an area of 4586 1 m2. The new stacks can hold 7.5 million books, and the total length of shelves is 240 kilometers. The western half of the ground part is the business office and the eastern half is the reading room. The new library has set up a four-story hall where readers can see the locations of all reading rooms. The place for studying is 9 193 square meters, and the office is 17888 square meters.

The main library and the new library cover an area of about 29,000 square meters, with a building area of 6,543,800 square meters and a book collection capacity of 6,543,800+0,200 volumes. There are 16 reading rooms in the main building and new building of the Central Library, which are open to the general readers, with seats of 1 172.
