Then let's talk about Li Shizhen. Li Shizhen, known as the "sage of medicine", was a famous pharmacist in Ming Dynasty, and wrote famous Chinese medicine classics such as Compendium of Materia Medica. He was brilliant since he was a child, and he was admitted as a scholar at the age of fourteen. However, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't go any further in the imperial examination, so he gave up his study in a rage and began to conquer the difficult bone of Chinese medicine. He buried himself in studying ancient books and went to Yiguang to observe and study.
However, in the process of learning, he suddenly found that many records about Chinese herbal medicines written by the ancients were wrong, so he made up his mind to write a book that included all Chinese herbal medicines and recorded them comprehensively. He traveled all over the country, personally tried every medicinal material, and finally wrote this Compendium of Materia Medica.
Also in the Ming Dynasty, there was a song "Ying Xing". Song Dynasty's book Heavenly Creations greatly improved the production capacity of agriculture and handicrafts in China. Different from Li Shizhen, Song won the imperial examination at the age of 28, but he failed five times in Beijing, so he gave up the imperial examination. Then I went to the countryside to investigate and visit, learned a lot of relevant knowledge, and made the book Tiangong Kaiwu. Thus, science examination is not the only way out.
