Poems and Paintings/Wu Lotin
The white tung trees have all fallen and broken,
Maybe the catalpa trees will bloom every year .
There is a small field full of grasshoppers looking for herbs.
Don’t move three carts during the slack time.
Wu Loting (1913-2005), painter and poet, was born in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province. Influenced by predecessors such as Jin Rongjing when he was young, he became fond of Kun Opera, calligraphy and painting.
Before he was crowned, he was taught by the famous painter Guo Sixun. The elder only taught literature and did not go into the studio to copy. The teaching method was unique, which helped Mr. Guo Sixun to express himself freely and cultivate his personality. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, as an expert on editions, he was appointed by the Jiaxing Library of Zhejiang Province to organize ancient books at Liu's Jiaye Hall, a famous library in Nanxun. He is the author of "List of Jiaxing Printers in the Past Three Hundred Years", "History of Yanyu Tower", "Jiaxing Ci Zheng", etc. He is currently a librarian at the Zhejiang Provincial Museum of Culture and History. In the new era, he once again used his brush to express the aura of mountains and rivers; the vegetables and fruits he painted were fragrant with dew. His painting style is outstanding and he is well-known in the art world.
