How to calculate the number of words when publishing? What is the concept of 250,000 words?

I'm from the publishing industry, so I should have a say.

There are two counting methods, the first is computer counting, and the second is line counting.

If you count by line, you should also pay attention to:

In Chinese, choose the line with the largest number of words on any page, multiply it by the number of lines per page, and then multiply it by the number of pages, which is basically the same.

If it is a mixture of Chinese and English, then choose a line of pure English and a line of pure Chinese. The more words in pure Chinese, the better.

Pure English has never been published in our publishing house, so the counting method is not clear, and it is estimated that the landlord will not use it.

Moreover, the publishing industry is generally not called 10 thousand words, but called thousand words. Because benchmark 32 opens Chinese-character publications, one page is generally about 1000 words, a little more than this. So 250,000 words is 250,000 words, about 200 pages, and a book is less than 250 pages.
