It is the most common dictionary at present. Xinhua Dictionary is explained in modern Chinese with accurate phonetic notation. Of course, Xinhua Dictionary is a modern Chinese dictionary after all, and its collection of archaic words and ancient meanings is very limited. Therefore, it is necessary to consult other dictionaries.
2. Kangxi dictionary
The book was written in the fifty-fifth year of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty (A.D. 17 16), and * * * received more than 47,000 words. Words that can't be found in the general dictionary can be found on it. This dictionary is arranged by radicals, and the whole book has 2 14 radicals. As a typical interpretation of Chinese characters, it is also the first phonetic notation, followed by interpretation, and then cited ancient books as evidence.
3. Chinese dictionary
It is a large-scale dictionary published only in the 1980s, and it has the largest number of words at present, with about 56,000 words. In terms of glyphs, Oracle Bone Inscriptions, inscriptions on bronze and Xiao Zhuan are listed, which can reflect the evolution of forms. In phonetics, we can first mark the modern pronunciation of the received words with phonetic symbols, and then list the ancient styles, and mark their phonological status and parts. It is a large-scale reference book to find the shape, pronunciation and meaning of Chinese characters. A slight deficiency is the lack of generality of meaning, which inevitably leads to improper division and combination of meaning.
4. Wang Li's Dictionary of Ancient Chinese
It is a medium-sized dictionary of ancient Chinese published only in 2000. It pays special attention to the generality, systematicness and epochal significance of words, including synonym discrimination, cognate word discussion, conjunction explanation and so on.
