The rhythm division of Cao GUI’s debate

The rhythm of Cao GUI’s debate is divided as follows:

In the spring of ten years, all the troops attacked me. The Duke/General will fight. Cao GUI/Please see me. The countryman said: "How can meat-eaters plan for it?" GUI said: "Meat-eaters are despicable and cannot make long-term plans." So he came to see it. Asked: "Why fight?" The Duke said: "I don't dare to specialize in food and clothing. I must divide people." He said to him: "If there is no small benefit, the people will not follow." The Duke said: "Sacrifice." Jade and silk, if you dare to add them, you must have faith. "The answer is: "If you have little faith, you will be blessed by God." The public said, "If you are in a small or large prison, you will have to trust it. Love. "He said to me, "You are a loyal person. If you want to fight, please follow me."

Fight with/Ladle. Duke/Jiang drummed it. GUI said: "No way." Qi people/three drums. GUI said: "That's all right." Qi Shi/defeated. The public/general will gallop towards him. GUI said: "It's not possible." He went down to see what he was doing, climbed up to Shi and looked at it, and said: "It's OK." Then he chased the Qi army. Since he was defeated, I asked him the reason. He said to him: "Husband, fighting means courage. Once you make a strong effort, it will weaken again, and then it will be exhausted. When it is exhausted, I will be full, so I can overcome it. Husband, a big country is unpredictable, and I am afraid of the danger. I will see it." The movement is in chaos, and I hope that the banner will be suppressed, so I will drive him away. It tells the historical facts of Cao GUI's comments on the war during the Battle of Changshao, and the historical fact that he used the principle of "strengthening one force, then weakening, and three times to exhaust" during the war to defeat the powerful Qi army.

Background of the work

Qi and Lu were neighboring countries during the Spring and Autumn Period. They were both in today's Shandong Province, with Qi in the northeast and Lu in the southwest. In 697 BC, Duke Xianggang of Qi came to the throne, and his political orders were unstable. His younger brothers, Prince Xiaobai and Prince Jiu, fled to Ju and Lu respectively. The following year Duke Xianggang of Qi was killed by Gongsun Wuwu. In the spring of the third year, the people of Qi killed Gongsun Wuwu, and Xiaobai returned to Qi first to seize the throne.

Later, Duke Zhuang of Lu also personally led troops to escort Prince Jiu back to the country to fight for the throne. In August, when Lu and the Qi army fought in Qian, the Lu army was defeated. Duke Huan of Qi forced Duke Zhuang of Lu to kill Prince Jiu. In the spring of the tenth year of Duke Zhuang of Lu, Qi attacked Lu again on the pretext that Lu had helped Prince Jiu fight for the throne of Qi, and the two armies fought in Changshao. This is the Battle of Qilu Changshao described in the article.
