Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio is a collection of short stories in classical Chinese by Pu Songling, a novelist in China in the Qing Dynasty. It was written from the third year of Kangxi to the eighth year of Kangxi (1664- 1669), and the earliest manuscripts were circulated in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. The book contains nearly 500 novels, which are famous for describing the charm of flowers, foxes and monsters, including folk customs, anecdotes and strange changes in everything in the world. It is the first book about foxes and ghosts. On the basis of inheriting Wei Jin's strange stories and the legendary traditions of Tang and Song Dynasties, this book reached the highest achievement of China's classical Chinese novel creation. Its story is bizarre and complicated, its characters are unique and its aesthetic ideals are different. It is a treasure of China literature and a pearl of world literature.
