The sutra-teaching ceremony is quite grand, with rituals such as tapping the teeth, swallowing fluids, holding the spirit, the master reciting incantations, and the disciples bowing three times to receive the sutras. The method of reading the scriptures is to first tap the teeth, swallow the liquid, and retain the spirit, and then read the scriptures in the Zhongxia sound.
