In the Spring and Autumn Period, the second chapter of Laozi's Tao Te Ching: Everyone in the world knows that beauty is beauty and evil is self-sufficient. As we all know, good is good, and self is bad. Therefore, whether there is a phase or not, it is difficult to bring out the best in each other, the length is consistent, the height is oblique, and the sound is in harmony. It is based on the sage's inaction, the teaching of doing things in terms of inaction, doing things without thinking, living without doing things, doing things without relying on them, and living and succeeding. The husband only lives in the house, so he can't go.

Vernacular translation:

Everyone knows that beauty is because of ugliness. Everyone knows that good is good, because there is evil. Therefore, there is mutual transformation between existence and non-existence, mutual formation between difficulty and easiness, mutual presentation of length and breadth, mutual complementarity of height and breadth, harmony of sound and sound, and continuity-this is eternity.

Therefore, the sage treats the world with a view of inaction and educates the world in a silent way: let everything go with the flow without starting, do something without adding their own tendencies, and succeed without pretending to be themselves. Just because you don't take credit, there is no loss.

According to the literature, Lao Tzu is quiet, studious and knowledgeable. In the process of teaching knowledge by his teacher, Shang Rong, Laozi always gets to the bottom of the matter and is very eager for knowledge. In order to solve doubts, he often looks up at the sun, moon and stars and thinks about what the sky is, so that he often can't sleep. Later, Mr. Shang Rong "really learned everything from the old lady."

Recommend Laozi to study in Zhoudu. The literature records: "When I went to see a doctor in Zhou, I went to imperial academy, and I learned all about astronomy, geography and human feelings. When I read all my poems, I could easily experience rituals and music, and I learned all my cultural relics, laws and history books, and I made great progress in my studies. The doctor also recommended him to be an official in the Tibetan room.

The sutra depository is a collection of ancient books in the Zhou Dynasty, which is full of articles and books from all over the world. "Through this experience, Lao Tzu has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and made him famous.

Philosophically, "Tao" is the mother of the beginning of all things in heaven and earth, the unity of opposites of Yin and Yang is the essential embodiment of all things, and the extremes of things are the law of the evolution of all things. Ethically, Laozi advocates simplicity, selflessness, serenity, humility, gentleness, weakness and indifference.

Politically, Lao Tzu advocates doing nothing at home, not disturbing the people, living in peace with foreign countries and opposing war and violence. These three levels constitute the theme of Tao Te Ching, and at the same time, the book Tao Te Ching has experienced the logical level of "physics to philosophy to ethics to politics" in structure.

From the way of nature to the virtue of ethics, it finally ends in the idea of ideal politics and the way of governance. That is, looking for the bright right path to the ideal social order from the natural order.
