"Cherishing Spring and Freezing to the Sun" is the solstice in the winter of the third year in Song Xiaozong (1 176). It uses the chronological method of emperor's title and official support, as well as the twenty-four solar terms commonly used in ancient poetry to mark the date. The solstice in summer is the longest and the solstice in winter is the shortest, so the ancients called the solstice in summer and the solstice in winter, which means the solstice in winter.
