Where is Fairy Lake?

Fairy Lake is in the southwest suburb of Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province.

Fairy Lake is located in the southwest suburb of Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province. It is the largest gene bank of subtropical tree species in Asia and the earliest lake-type scenic spot in Jiangxi Province. Fairy Lake is the birthplace of the legend of "Sweater Woman Descending from the Earth" and "China Qixi Valentine's Day" recorded in Searching for the Gods by Gan Bao, a writer in the Eastern Jin Dynasty.

Fairy Lake has four distinct seasons and a pleasant climate. Annual average temperature 17.5℃, humidity 80%, and average water temperature 26.8℃. Sunshine 1677.4 hours, rainfall 1532 mm, frost-free period of 265 days, and relative temperature of 70%.

The history of Fairy Lake:

According to archaeological research, in the Neolithic Age, human beings thrived in the inner chain of Fairy Lake area, showing the primitive agricultural culture of more than 6000 years. For thousands of years, the wisdom and hard work of our ancestors left a profound and dignified cultural accumulation and cultural relics for this area.

Fairy Lake, formerly known as Jiangkou Reservoir, is one of the four major reservoirs in Jiangxi Province. There are nearly 100 islands, more than 40 peaks and more than 40 suspended springs and waterfalls in the reservoir area.

From 65438 to 0995, in order to develop and utilize its tourism resources, Xinyu Municipal Government renamed Jiangkou Reservoir, which was cut off from rivers, as Fairy Lake.

In 2000, the Xinyu municipal government packaged the historical legends about the seven fairies in Xinyu Jiangkou Scenic Area and Xinyu local area into Fairy Lake Scenic Area for the sake of tourism.
