The National Library Branch is located at No.7 Jinwen Street on the North Sea coast. Its predecessor was the National Beiping Library, which is now the National Library. The main building of the library was built in 193 1, which was the largest and most advantageous library in China at that time. It enjoyed a high reputation because of its special position in the history of modern library development in China, and it was a key cultural relic protection unit in Beijing. From 65438 to 0997, with the support of the central government and all walks of life, the National Library decided to carry out comprehensive maintenance and renovation of the original branch building that has experienced nearly 70 years of wind and rain. In July of the same year 1, the branch library was completely closed. At present, the three-year reinforcement and maintenance project of the main building has been completed. The branch of the National Library was put into trial operation on June 65438+February 65438+8, 2000, and officially opened on June 1 day, 2006.
As an integral part of the National Library, the branches of the National Library continue to maintain their classical charm and unique style, especially the collection of ancient books, focusing on the collection, collation and research of ordinary ancient books, and strive to become the national ancient book stacks and ancient book utilization and circulation centers. There are 2 million volumes in the branch library, including 6,543.8+0.6 million volumes of ancient books, forming a treasure house of ancient books with complete system, complete categories and rich contents, which has attracted much attention from academic circles. There are more than 10,000 kinds of old and new local chronicles compiled in past dynasties, which are the most at home and abroad. There are 3,000 kinds of genealogies in the past dynasties, which affect the broadcasting at home and abroad. The advantages and characteristics of the collection make the branches of the National Library have profound historical and cultural heritage and unique charm.
