As a branch of communication studies, cultural communication studies have their own boundaries. The so-called "culture" refers to a set of civilized system formed with ideology as the core, that is, what Qian Mu said "culture" is related to the spiritual level of human group life and is produced by the accumulation of spirit within the group. "Communication" is the most basic concept of communication. According to Shi Lamu's definition, it refers to the dissemination and influence of information through the operation of social information system. The study of "cultural communication" from the perspective of communication studies regards the transmission of social information as the process of cultural preservation, inheritance, transformation and proliferation, and pays attention to the issue of cultural transmission through social information systems. In fact, there is a close relationship between "culture" and "communication". If there is culture, there must be communication, which is the first condition for the existence of culture. If there is communication, there must be communication and interaction of cultural elements. It is through the transmission of culture from generation to generation that human beings construct their own spiritual world and material world, and cultural communication is the most important and basic type of human communication activities.
According to the viewpoint of communication, a complete communication activity needs five basic elements: communicator, receiver, media, communication content and feedback. Among them, the disseminator (the person who actively transmits information) and the receiver (the person who receives information and reacts) are the main body of communication activities, and the media is the carrier and channel for carrying information.
