Hainan Normal University Library is the library and information center with the largest collection of books and the richest local documents in Hainan Province. Collection of books 1.822 million, including paper books 1.254 million and electronic books 568,000. There are 3,059 Chinese and foreign paper newspapers, more than 8,000 Chinese electronic periodicals and 774 foreign electronic periodicals. It has several full-text databases, such as China Knowledge Network, Chongqing Weipu Chinese Sci-tech Journal Database and Springer. Hainan local documents and ancient books occupy an important position in our library. There are 8 190 local documents published in Hainan, 4 1 local newspapers and 0/04 local periodicals. There are 53,700 books in the ancient books stack, including 42 rare books of ancient books, 107 1 book, which is second to none in the province's libraries. It is an important resource for studying Hainan's history and culture and has important academic and cultural value. Since1May, 1995, the library of Hainan Normal University used "Library Automation Integrated System (ILAS)" to carry out automation construction, completed the automation and networking construction of the library, and realized the computer integrated management of the whole library business. At present, the library LAN has been upgraded in an all-round way, and a high-speed LAN with gigabit backbone and 100 megabytes to desktop has been built. In 2002, the Desi system of Founder of Peking University was used to digitize Hainan local documents. In addition, according to the discipline construction of the school, collect and sort out network resources and establish discipline navigation. Adhering to the tenet of "readers first, service and education", the library has offices, editorial departments, periodical departments, circulation and reading departments, information consultation and special collection departments, and technology and electronic resources service departments, which implement the integrated management of "collection, lending, reading, inquiry and network" and actively provide readers with services such as reading, lending, information retrieval, user training, interlibrary loan, document reproduction and reference consultation. In recent years, the opening hours of libraries have been continuously extended. The maximum weekly opening time of the reading room is 10 1.5 hours, and the network service is uninterrupted for 24 hours.
After 58 years of development, automation, networking and digitalization, the library of Hainan Normal University has successively experienced the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation in 2000, the networking construction of university libraries in the whole province in 20001year, the digital construction inspection of university libraries in 2003 and the evaluation of ordinary university libraries in Hainan Province in 2005. In 2006, it was awarded the title of "Excellent Library for Running Universities" and "CNKI of Hainan Province in 2006". In recent years, the school has continuously increased its investment in library construction, which has promoted the rapid development of the library. The library environment, service management level and the mental outlook of all librarians have undergone fundamental changes, and it has become a learning and research place with elegant environment, rich literature resources and advanced service equipment, which is well received by readers.
