What does bonsai mean?

Orchid Club is a Buddhist ceremony of Chinese Buddhism. According to the Lanpen Buddhist Sutra, it is held every year on July 15th of the lunar calendar.

According to the Bible of the Buddha's Orchid Basin, Mu Lian, a disciple of the Buddha, saw her dead mother suffering in hell and hung upside down, asking for the Buddha's rescue. The Buddha told him that on July 15th, when the monks settled down and lived freely, they prepared 100 kinds of food to support ten monks, which could free their mother. According to this statement, Buddhists put forward the bonsai society.

The Buddha said that there are two interpretations of the Buddhist scriptures of Orchid Sutra: one is that "orchid" is Sanskrit, which means hanging upside down; "Pot" is a Chinese word, which refers to a vessel for monks to hold food. The second argument is that the word "orchid pot" is a Sanskrit transliteration.

Kelly's "The Sound and Meaning of the Classics" Volume 34: "Bonsai, this statement is also wrong. It is said that Wu Lanpo _, the translation cloud _ is upside down. In the case of western law, as for the day when the monks were exempted, the cloud died first and was guilty, and the family was ruined and there was no one to worship, so it was a ghost. The Buddha ordered the monks in Sanbaochang to offer sacrifices and let them die first to save the suffering of hunger. The old cloud _ orchid basin is a food container, which is also wrong. "
