What nationality are Koreans?
Koreans are the main residents of the Korean Peninsula in Northeast Asia. Others are distributed in China, the United States, Japan, Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. It belongs to the East Asian type of Mongolian race. They are of the same ancestry as Koreans in China and those in Europe, America, Japan and Russia, and belong to "descendants of Dangen" and "descendants of Sanhan". Koreans in the former Soviet Union claimed to be Koreans. Historically, it is composed of ethnic elements from many different sources. Korean is commonly used (called Korean in Korea), and the language family is uncertain, so most scholars think it belongs to Altai language family.
